Will the Great Resignation Hit The Event Industry?
Recently, I read a heartbreaking Facebook post within a group full of amazing, strong event suppliers. That post had a resounding response because it opened up the question of whether people were considering leaving the event industry because of the horror of the last two years, and the sheer workload in recent months.
This made me think... Will the event industry face the Great Resignation?
(Here is an article about what the Great Resignation is - https://www.abc.net.au/.../the-great.../100478866 ).
The pandemic has made us all think about our careers, our choices and our future. However, the event industry has been forced to have the conversation - not because of the fact that we hate our jobs, but the realisation that we are all human and not robots.
There is a collective PTSD within the industry because of the sheer amount of conflict, the boundary pushing, the fear of restrictions, the confusion around the law, and the worry about financial loss.
What is my solution to this? I don't have one. I am a lawyer. I sort out the conflicts and I help minimise the loss suffered. But what I can say, after probably the most traumatic 18 months of my own life, is that we are wildly capable human beings who are far stronger than we realise.
Rest, recover, rejuvenate and rediscover.
Rediscover the love you have for your career choice.
Remember the talent you have, the talent that led you to put yourself out there in the first place.
Remind yourself that you didn't become successful by accident.
Every supplier I have worked with in the last two years (and I'm going to tell you that I have worked with a lot of you) has had an incredible talent too good for the Australian event industry to lose.
Event Law is committed to future proofing Australia's wedding and event industry and we will remain committed for as long as it takes for people to rest, recover, rejuvenate and fall back in love with their careers.
As always, we are here to take enquiries in our Facebook Group, or you can email us on admin@eventlaw.online.
