Frequently Asked
Questions
What is Backstage Collective?
Backstage Collective is an online platform that gives wedding and event suppliers access to consultants who help them “build”, “level up” or “future proof” their business. We solely focus on the needs of small to medium-sized wedding and event suppliers around Australia. We create industry-specific templates, education offerings and relevant information about hot topics.
Let’s be honest, we are your professional “hype-gals”!
How did it begin?
Our Founder, Kathryn Adams, started getting a heap of COVID-19 questions from wedding and event suppliers over the course of 2020. Her law firm, Event Law, worked tirelessly with clients who were struggling with contractual disputes, consumer law and other legal issues related to “The Rona”. Because Kathryn had previously run an events company, she was quickly able to understand the nuances of the industry and apply legal stuff to them.
Kathryn also quickly realised that there was a need for a platform which gave suppliers access to legal and business information that they could count on. Wedding and events suppliers were struggling to find advisers who understood the particular nature of the industry, particularly in relation to operating small to medium-sized businesses.
Now, Kathryn can give wedding and event suppliers access to the very best legal and business consultants who get the vibe.
Is Backstage Collective a law firm?
Nope. KVA Business Services Pty Limited atf Benji Trust t/as Backstage Collective is an ecommerce and business consultancy platform. When you purchase products from our Online Store (for example, a template package) you are not obtaining legal services in any capacity and we do not warrant that the document (or documents) you purchase will fit your needs.
If you do need legal advice or legal services such as customisation, document checking, or additions to your templates, you will need to enter into a legal services agreement with Hallett Legal Services Pty Limited t/as Event Law (‘Event Law’), an incorporated Legal Practice registered with the Law Society of New South Wales.
If at any time we feel that you are seeking a legal opinion from us, we will hand you over to Event Law and give you a quote for legal services. Don’t worry, Event Law is predominately a fixed fee-based law firm so you will know how much you’re paying for excellent advice from the very start.
Do you have an office?
We sure don't. We are entirely online but do enjoy the occassional IRL appearance at conferences and such.
Are your templates legal?
Yes. Our templates have been developed by Kathryn and her team at Event Law.
Kathryn is an Australian legal practitioner, admitted in both the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Supreme Court of South Australia. Kathryn has practised law in all states and territories. She knows her stuff.
Kathryn and her experienced team at Event Law have worked very hard to create terms and conditions unique to the Australian wedding and events industry.
Am I able to share a copy of your templates with others?
Weeell it is a condition of purchase that the intellectual property rests with us and you have a license to use it for your own purposes. In short, that means no (sorry everyone!). We ask that you do not make your templates visible on your website unless we have informed you expressly that you are able to (for example, your privacy policy or website terms and conditions).
You see, it’s been a hard slog to perfect terms over the course of COVID-19 and because they are so unique to the wedding and events industry, they are very valuable (and no doubt sought after).
How do I make a payment?
If you’d like to purchase templates from our Online Store, you’ll be paying through our Third-Party Payment Provider.
If your supplier category terms do not appear in the Online Store, it may be that we simply haven’t uploaded them yet. If you’d like to purchase them, let us know. We’ll let you know once we have a template for your type of business, so you can purchase them from our online store.
Again, if you do find that you need customised legal work, you’ll need to enter into a legal services agreement with Event Law and you will be given a cost estimate before work starts.
